The 2020 Amazon Line-up of Kindle Tablets and E-readers

Amazon’s Kindle line offers an alternative to the iPad from Apple and the litany of Android tablets. Amazon is a company known for many things in the online consumer realm but most notably able to provide content through their various products. The Kindle line-up of tablets and e-readers uses the best of what Amazon can offer along with technology that delivers a unique consumer experience all at competitive prices. This year’s additions are noteworthy in that the Kindle family is not spread across a spectrum of sizes, functions, and price points.

$69 Kindle

The most basic Kindle model is the e-reader formerly known as the $79 Kindle. This year’s model is called the $69 Kindle as the price for the entry-level form has been reduced by $10. The screen is 6 inches and uses E Ink Pearl display technology. You can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi and store up to 2GB of data on the e-reader. Amazon promises 4 weeks of battery life with the wireless option turned off.

Kindle Paperwhite

The Kindle Paperwhite is a completely new model. This Kindle is also 6 inches but comes with a built-in light that illuminates the screen for reading in low light. The Paperwhite is available in 3G and Wi-Fi only models. You can store up to 2GB on the Kindle Paperwhite plus additional storage for free in the cloud. Amazon promises the Kindle Paperwhite to get up to 8 weeks of battery life with the wireless turned off.

Kindle Fire

The Kindle Fire has been a remarkably popular model. In 2019, the Fire comes in 7-inch form factor with an LCD display. Users can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi connection. You can store up to 8GB of data on the Fire as well as free storage in the cloud. Amazon claims 8.5 hours of continuous use on a single charge.

Kindle Fire HD (7”, 8.9”)

New to this year’s Kindle Fire line-up are the Kindle Fire HD models. Each size comes with an HD LCD display. The 8.9” model comes with 4G LTE and Wi-Fi while the smaller variety connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi only. The Kindle Fire HD comes in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage varieties; Amazon claims the Kindle Fire HD gets 11 hours of continuous use on a single charge.
